The Small Farm Orientation online course is an educational program for clientele who want to start a successful small farm. The course provides a checklist is a step-by-step guide to assist clientele in decision-making related to starting a beginning farm in Virginia. This resource can be modified by small farm educators using site specific information based on the educator’s expertise and knowledge of their location. The target Learning Objectives of each module are outlined, followed by materials (e.g. Power Point slides) the presenters will use during the training, followed by additional materials you could use to improve and enhance your financial record-keeping skills. The VSUSFOP has an agreement to conduct Production and /or Financial Management Trainings for the state of Virginia’s Farm Service Agency (FSA). Upon completion of the 7 modules and quizzes, you will be awarded a certificate stating that you have met the requirements for the state of Virginia’s FSA Borrower Training. No prior experience or coursework required. There will be 30 multiple choice questions at the end of the course. This course is web based training program delivered through our online Learning Management System.
